Friends:
I hope this email finds everyone doing well. Attached is the CCS Friday
Letter and the new Kidz Cafe letter. A couple of interesting items that I
would like to point out are included in this letter.
First, we need some volunteers for our annual cup stacking competition.
Participation has been fading in the last couple of years and it is
important to provide enough help so Mrs. Ruby can continue to offer to have
the competition. Details are in the Friday Letter.
Second, I would like to thank all families involved in the PTF fundraiser.
As you have noticed, it was the first year to try a different format for
this fundraiser and it will be interesting to see the outcome and types of
feedback we receive.
A little note on academics: Have you ever wondered how Campbell Christian
School compares relative to other schools academically. Well, one way we
uniformly teach academics is by following the California academic standards,
which is provided online at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp.
Second, we take the Stanford Achievement Tests each year in April. These
tests give us a relative score against the rest of the population taking the
test. Our school scored in the top 17% in the nation as an average for all
subjects. I would say that our combination of parent support, teacher
effort, and academic guidance help us to be one of the best schools around.
However, this is not the only reason we exist. We cannot forget to provide
children with the spiritual and social awareness that comes from interaction
with other people. We focus on helping children learn those valuable
lessons, all of the while helping them to understand how their actions
affect others. We want to teach techniques on how to deal with people we do
not get along with on a daily basis. This is not an easy task, but as you
may see on a daily basis in the news, conflict resolution and interpersonal
communication will be the cornerstone of social development in the future.
Have a wonderful weekend.
