Ms. Catalina Bala has a Master’s in English-Rhetoric & Composition from Loyola Marymount University and a BA in Communication Studies from Gonzaga University.  She was an English Teaching Fellow during her Master’s program and taught Rhetoric & Composition to first-year students.  She also taught Rhetorical Arts, a Jesuit-informed reading, writing, and speaking course that focused on discussions of goodness, self-expression, critical thinking, and community engagement.  Ms. Bala enjoys helping students develop a richer understanding of language and self-expression.  She loves weaving popular culture into her teaching style to engage her student's interests.  Ms. Bala grew up in San Jose with her twin sister, Nikki.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, camping, and watching One Piece and Star Wars. Ms. Bala’s faith is strongly grounded in intellectual and teaching pursuits.  Her faith helps her weave empathy, love, and service into her day-to-day life.
