Campbell Christian Junior High Chapter

Honoring Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character & Citizenship

At Campbell Christian Schools, junior high students are called to academic excellence, leadership, and servant-hearted living. Our chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) fosters these values by recognizing and nurturing students who consistently model the Five Pillars—laying a foundation for both high school and a lifetime of meaningful impact.

What Is the National Junior Honor Society?

Founded in 1929, the National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s leading organization recognizing outstanding middle school students. With chapters across every U.S. state, as well as Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and many international schools, NJHS is more than just an honor roll. The organization honors exceptional achievement and sets high standards for future leaders.

Membership in NJHS is bestowed not just for academic excellence but for a demonstrated commitment to purposeful living. It is estimated that over one million students have participated in NJHS or its high school counterpart, NHS.

The Five Pillars: What Sets NJHS Apart

NJHS is more than just an honor roll. Membership is an honor bestowed upon students who demonstrate a commitment to purposeful living:

Scholarship

Candidates must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.6 for the last two quarters.

Leadership

Members serve as positive role models, leading teams and setting a Christlike example on campus.

Service

Rooted in giving back, members complete 10 service hours every two quarters through chapter-led or individual projects.

Character

Honesty, respect, and responsibility define each member's daily choices.

Citizenship

Members show respect for their school and nation, demonstrating awareness of their role as responsible citizens.

How to Apply

To be considered for membership, candidates must complete the following items and submit them as one file. A Candidate Selection Rubric is included in the packet; a minimum of 65 out of 80 points and Faculty Council approval are required for induction.

Community members and students collaborating outdoors, engaging in mentorship and street-level initiatives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

No. While a 3.6 GPA is the prerequisite, the Faculty Council reviews the “total student.” No student is inducted based on academics alone; service, leadership, and character are equally weighted.

Look for adults who have seen you in a leadership or service role—coaches, scout leaders, pastors, or volunteer coordinators. They cannot be CCS staff or relatives.

Members must maintain their 3.6 GPA, participate in all planned service projects, and uphold the standards of the CCS Student Handbook. Significant disciplinary issues or failure to meet service hours may lead to probation or dismissal.

There are annual chapter dues of $30.00, which support national affiliation, induction ceremonies, and local chapter service initiatives.

CCS’s NJHS chapter believes Christian service is at the heart of leadership. In addition to group projects, members may develop individualized service opportunities tailored to their gifts and schedules—with faculty guidance to ensure each initiative is meaningful and respectful to the community’s needs. Throughout their membership, NJHS students learn that true leadership means modeling Christlike humility, compassion, and a willingness to serve quietly as well as publicly.
